Harrisburg Marathon The Harrisburg Marathon is the perfect small town marathon. Run your first marathon with our friendly volunteers. Bring your family and enjoy the region's hospitality, or use our flat, fast course to qualify for Boston. Logistics for this marathon are uncomplicated, unlike the big city marathons. Our course travels along the beautiful Susquehanna River, through wooded Wildwood Lake Park (the only short, rolling part of the marathon), and traverses the Harrisburg Greenbelt. It starts and finishes on Harrisburg's recreational City Island. The marathon course is certified by USATF (Certification No. PA09034WB). The modified 2010 will be certified as a Boston Qualification course. |

Harrisburg Half Marathon The Harrisburg Half Marathon is held annually in the month of September. The race is a certified course that is run on City Island and along the scenic Riverfront Park in the downtown Harrisburg community. The September date allows the race to attract many participants training for a full marathon, with the Harrisburg Half Marathon fitting nicely into their marathon-training schedule. The 2009 Harrisburg Half Marathon had over 1000 participants, which is incredible growth from the first race, which attracted 100 participants. The race had record growth last year and is quickly becoming one of the largest running events in the Harrisburg area. The Harrisburg Half Marathon takes a lot of coordination from many volunteers. Each year there are 70-80 volunteers that help make this race a success. This race is held in conjunction with the Harrisburg Road Runners Club and has a very bright future. |

Jesvic 5K The Watsontown JesVic 5K was started in 2007 to honor two community women, Jessica Wade and Vicki Hitesman, who both passed away from cancer. One was a blue-eyed, athletic 23 year old, a graduate of Warrior Run High School, who pursued a college degree. Among her many goals was to run a marathon someday. The other—a former nurse who touched the lives of the patients and their families from her early days at Williamsport Hospital and Kramm's Nursing Home. She was a survivor of Hodgkin's disease. Her youngest son plays baseball, her oldest ran cross country at Warrior Run. Vicki and her husband (who is also a runner) supported the cross-country team, and all their sons’ endeavors. |
