Our race was created in memory of Kathryn M. Freeman, who passed away from Ovarian Cancer in January 2010. We are hoping to get enough sponsorship so that all registration fees can go to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please complete a Volunteer Form.

4/6/2011: Chip Timing by PaRunners
We will use chip timing for the half marathon. Only runners will use chip timing in the 3-mile event, which you can specify on the registration form and on PaRunners will take care of our timing and scoring. They are local and participate in several area races.

3/31/2011: Post Race Party at The Cell Block
I’m excited to announce that The Cell Block has agreed to host our post race party. I don’t have the details yet, but Stacey, one of the owners, has oodles of ideas cooking and she’s uber enthusiastic about the race…so I have a feeling we’re in for a good time… So check out The Cell Block, as well as Barrel 135, another one of Stacey’s establishments, and eat, drink, and show your appreciation.

3/29/2011: Aquarius Pool and Patio Sponsorship
Aquarius Pool and Patio has joined our list of sponsors. My dad has been buying pool chemicals from them for over 20 years - and has always depended on them for reliable service anytime the filter breaks or liner rips or whenever a pool crisis arises. Please stop by and thank them for their support.

3/24/2011: Holiday Inn Race Rate: Book your hotel room early!
I contacted the Holiday Inn to block off some rooms and cialis uy online was told that they have been selling out quite a bit lately, because of all the drilling in the area. They are already 50% full for our race weekend! And because they have been selling out, I wasn’t able to block rooms, but I did get a discounted rate. If you call the Holiday Inn at 570-327-8231 and refer to the “Race for Ovarian Cancer” rate, the room is $139/night (that Fri and Sat night only). Also, this rate only applies when booked before August 23. The Holiday Inn is located in downtown Williamsport and is just a short ride from the start of the race.

3/17/2011: 6 Month Countdown Special
If you register on for the half marathon between March 17 and March 24, your registration fee is only $25 (plus the fee). This discount does not apply to paper registration…only online registration. There’s 6 months to train for the half, so what better way to motivate yourself than by officially registering for the race and marking it down on your calendar. Don’t wait!

3/17/2011: Dunkin Donuts Sponsorship
Dunkin Donuts has generously offered their sponsorship. We are thrilled to have them on board, especially since they’ll bring the coffee and donuts race day morning. And Kirstie, one of the owners of our local Williamsport Dunkin Donuts, plans on running the race as well…proof that Williamsport literally does run on Dunkin… So stop by and pick up some coffee, donuts, bagels, whatever…it’ll keep you fortified and awake on those long runs…

2/24/2011: USA Track and Field Santion
The Kathryn M. Freeman Race for Ovarian Cancer is now a USA Track and Field sanctioned event.

1/28/2011: G. Ritsick and levitra mg Sons Sponsorship
G. Ritsick and Sons, Inc., mechanical contractors in Plains, PA, have signed on as event sponsors. They mainly do commercial jobs, so if your company or organization needs any plumbing or heating work, think about giving them a ring.

12/9/2010: Fitness Factory Sponsorship
Fitness Factory in Williamsport has agreed to be a sponsor. Their sponsorship is also special because back in the day, Carey Stiller, who manages Fitness Factory, was my partner in crime on Loyalsock’s track team. Our moms used to sit together in the bleachers, home or away, and watch every single meet. And after we went off to college, Carey’s mom, Jane, and my mom, Kathryn, remained incredibly close, all the way up until my mom’s passing. I will always be thankful to Jane for being such a good friend to my mom and to Carey for understanding how important this cause is. Please show your support by stopping by Carey’s gym and checking out all the classes Fitness Factory offers...seriously, they offer a lot of classes...

12/8/2010: Live Well Fitness Sponsorship
Live Well Fitness in Muncy, PA just signed on as one of our sponsors. What makes their sponsorship even more meaningful is that the cause is personal for one of the owners, Edwina Richards, as her mother passed away from ovarian cancer. Please see her write up on our ovarian cancer stories page. And if you’re in the Muncy area, swing by and show Live Well Fitness your appreciation and support.

11/16/2010: REGISTRATION OPEN - See Registration Page for Details

11/15/2010: Course Change for 3-Mile Run/Country Stroll

The 3-mile run/walk course was originally going to follow Bloomingrove Road, but we have decided to route it through farms in the area, so it will be more of a trail race. Whether you plan on running or walking, please keep in mind that there will be uneven, hilly terrain. And if the grass is wet, which is often the case in the morning, please be aware that the course might be slippery. Even walkers will need to wear appropriate footwear. Flip flops and sandals will not work out. The half marathon course is still the same and will remain a road race.

11/04/2010: Personal Stories Page - PLEASE SHARE!
I would like to add a page with personal stories about ovarian cancer. They can come from anyone - survivors, family and friends with loved ones who have or had ovarian cancer - or even if you don’t know anyone and just want to convey information about something you read or a conversation you had with your doctor. And it doesn’t matter if you’re from the Williamsport area or from a million miles away. Even if you can’t make it to the race, please make a submission and feel free to submit whatever you want – stories, advice, pictures, links, information - anything you would like to share. Please email me by clicking “contact me” at the bottom of the page and I will upload whatever you wish to share.
